Tyrannosaurus

Although Tyrannosaurs were only around for about 15 million years, they are among the most amazing and fearsome animals of the dinosaur era. These large-headed predators had enormous jaws full of teeth and moved on two hind legs, which looked more like poles and were twice the height of a human. On the other hand, their front legs were even shorter than those of the allosaurs, and in addition, they had two-toed legs the size of human hands. Tyrannosaurs undoubtedly belonged to carnivores and lived by hunting. However, it is not excluded that they also fed on carrion.

Tyrannosaurus:

After the Carcharodontosaurus, this was apparently the largest land predator that ever lived on Earth-at least judging by some, superbly preserved remains, especially those discovered in 1990 that belonged to the so-called Sue. Thus, it was possible to establish that the Tyrannosaurs weighed about 7 tons, at a height of 6 m. The size of their step was almost 5 m – at such a distance is not every man can jump – well, with the prey they dashingly managed with 25-centimeter teeth, similar to spoons. Some scientists supposed that tyrannosaurs were too cumbersome to catch their prey in the open spaces, and besides, the short forelegs could hardly serve them as a reliable support and soften the blow on the ground. Therefore, most likely, Tyrannosaurs hopped up on their prey in the bushes and attacked when it was very close.

Tyrannosaurus, by holding its head out to the front, frightened off Troodon, which had managed to snatch a piece of prey from it. And this time his prey was a corpse of gadrosaurus, which had died a natural death. Thus, carrion was an essential addition to the Tyrannosaurs’ diet. Like modern scavengers, Tyrannosaurs smelled it both by smell and by the accumulation of other scavengers.
